Holding Period

Dr's appointment yesterday went well yesterday. Not much progress to report. I am still dilated to a 2, but Dr said that i have made progress. Whatever that means :) He stripped my membranes AGAIN and i have to say third time is not a charm, because it didn't work.

The Dr reserved a spot for me at the hospital on October 7th to break my water. He is working that day, which is comforting knowing that my Dr would be there.

So if nothing happens before October 7th, then that will be the day SOMETHING happens.

And by the way, Adam asked our Dr how many babies he has delivered, and he said over 6,000! WOW

Progress?

I wish i could report that more progress has been made with this pregnancy...

Friday night we had our cocktail reception to raise money for ALS. We were able to raise a great amount of money thanks to all of our generous friends that made it. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!

Friday overnight, i lost my mucus plug (sorry if that is too much information). I woke up and was convinced that labor was in the near future. We even went ahead and packed all of the hospital bags in the car with the stuff for the walk Saturday. Saturday was the ALS walk. I WALKED THE WHOLE 3+ miles too!

I figured if nothing else, losing my plug and walking that far would make me jump start into labor. NOTHING. After the walk we went out to lunch with Adams family to Punch Pizza in Wayzata. All I can say is YUM! We went to Chucks grave with the family after lunch. We brought him a pumpkin and flowers.

We then all went back to Adam's moms house for cake and ice cream to celebrate Lily's birthday.

After cake and ice cream Lily opened her presents. Adam was VERY excited that he got her a remote control car. He has been looking forward to giving her the gift for like 2 weeks.

After gifts we ate dinner and then came home. All day, i had been thinking something would happen, and it didn't.

Sunday evening i was having contractions every 20 minutes or so from about 6 pm until i fell asleep. I was sure i was going to wake up in the middle of the night and have strong contractions. I did wake up, but only because the baby was moving around so much it was about to tear out of my stomach. Today, same thing...some contractions, but nothing that has come closer together or gotten stronger.

Who knows? This baby must just be really content in my tummy! We have a Dr appointment tomorrow. He is going to strip my membranes again, and we will talk about other steps and where to go next.

Water breaking...

So when my water is supposed to be breaking, instead, the rain water broke into our house! I went downstairs at about 4 and found the storage part of our basement was FILLED with water. I called Adam and told him to come home RIGHT away. I went downstairs to try to help move a few things out of the way so that Adam could move the large things to clean up. While i was moving two six packs of beer (that i bought today for the cocktail party to raise money for ALS that we are having tomorrow) the bottoms that were wet broke, and beer bottles broke everywhere. I looked at my legs, no blood, then looked at my wrist and realized my wrist was cut. I called Adam again, while he was on his way home, and told him that we needed to go to urgent care so i could get stitches...

SO, when i am supposed to be going into labor, instead we have a flooded basement, and now a wrist that needs to be stitched.

We are going to head to the hospital in a few minutes. Adam found out that the sump pump plug accidentally came unplugged, which is why the basement flooded.

BOO!!

Stripping AGAIN

I had my appointment today at 10:10, and they attempted stripping #2. I have had a few braxton hicks contractions since, but nothing major.

Hoping it will work within the next 12 hours or so...?

KEEP PRAYING! (Natalie, it is SO hard to be patient! However i just have to keep thinking that the baby will come when it is fully baked!)

So far no progress after stripping my membranes yesterday :(

I didn't sleep well last night either. Just thinking about the possibility of going into labor made me toss and turn quite a bit. Still nothing has happened. I am a little sore from the process, but no contractions or anything. This baby just must be content and not want to leave the comfort of my womb.

I am going to go back tomorrow and try again...who knows maybe the 2nd time is a charm?

Say some prayers for me...and baby!

Stripped

Today i went to the Dr and i have made NO progress from last week. So, the Dr stripped my membranes! Stay tuned, this baby maybe on it's way...at least i hope!

Maternity Pictures

On Friday Adam, Asa and I went to the Plymouth Creek Center to take maternity pictures. I found a photographer on Craigslist who was able to do our shoot for FREE!! He is also going to provide us with the disc of all of the pictures he took. He is actually really reasonable as far as photographers are concerned. No news on any baby progress to report yet. I have another Dr's appointment tomorrow so i should have news after that.

Friday, after the maternity shoot, we went out to lunch at Applebees, and then went to Costco to grab some groceries. Friday night we met our friends Steve and Sarah for dinner at Sushi Tango. We got a sitter and everything! It was so much fun to get out and hang out with good friends. We always love hanging out with them, and LOVED the sushi!

Saturday, Adam worked most of the day.

Sunday we went to church, and then home to watch the Vikings game. We ended up DVRing it (recording) and started watching it around 2:30 so we could skip commercials. Adam also moved the sewing machine that my grandma gave me from the rec room, to the downstairs family room, so that i could start sewing more. It made me very excited! (thanks for the inspiration Angel) I am making a quilt for baby Heeren, and to be honest when i was picking out material last week, i picked out more girl colors then boy colors...oops? I also have some material that i found in the "red zone" or clearance area, that i am going to use to make some other clothes/projects with.

37 weeks and Cabin Birthday Weekend

I will be 37 weeks on Thursday...i should say that amidst all of the changes in my due date i THINK that i will be 37 weeks on Thursday. I had my dr appointment again today, and i am 80% effaced, and 2 cm dilated! Things are progressing nicely. I have the hospital bags packed, the list for taking care of the dogs and Asa while we are gone prepared, and have had a HUGE need to nest, cleaning out closets, and drawers galore! So needless to say I AM READY!

I ran into an old friend today at Target...you know who you are JENNY :) and found out she reads my blog! YEA! I love to find out when people read my blog. That way when no one comments for multiple posts, i know that there are people still reading :)

In other words...keep an eye on the blog, because before you know it i will have BABY delivery news!! Any guesses on whether it is a boy or girl...or when the baby will come?

Last weekend my parents surprised us by renting out a cabin up north for our birthday gifts. Adam, Asa, Chuck, Joe and I all piled into our car and headed up Friday afternoon. My parents only told Adam where we were heading, so it was a surprise the whole way up. We had plenty of guesses, but ultimately no one was right. The cabin they rented is on the same lake that my grandparents have their lake home on, so we were able to borrow their boat for the weekend as well.

My grandpa is in the middle of my two brothers in the picture. He is 86 years old and still super active!

70%

As of last Thursday i am 70% effaced! Dr seems to think this baby is coming much sooner then October 7th! I hope he is right! Ironically i feel very comfortable these past few days. My cesarean scar doesn't pull anymore and i just feel...sort of...content? I have another appointment tomorrow, so i will keep you posted after that.

Como Zoo = practically free Labor day of FUN!

Yesterday we went to the Como Zoo to celebrate Labor day. I have not been there in years, and boy have things changed since the last time i was there. The weather was so nice and cool, and even braved walking around while it was sprinkling a few times.
We started off at the Conservatory looking at all of the plants and flowers. Asa even threw a few coins into the fountain.

We went out to the main zoo area and took a picture of Asa with the famous Como Zoo turtle. Right as dad was snapping the picture a duck crapped on his head! It was hilarious! We were both upset after the fact that we didn't get a picture of the crap on his head.

Adam got one of these guys below to become pretty fascinated with his watch. He would hold it to the glass and the little monkey would try to reach out and grab it.

The baby orangutan was definitely a highlight! It was so cute and was constantly playing/messing with dad.

At the end of the trip we took Asa on his first carousel ride. He was SUPER freaked out at first, and then he fell asleep by the rides end.

All in all it was a GREAT trip to the Como Zoo!!

Wedding weekend

This weekend we had our dear friends Brandon and Kim's wedding. Adam was one of the groomsmen, so we spent Friday night at the rehearsal and then grooms dinner, and then Saturday night was the wedding. We had SUCH a good time. The wedding was outdoors and the weather was a perfect cool on Saturday, and then the reception was just a walk away in the Carlson Towers. Dinner was amazing, and we got to spend time with some of our great friends there as well. My brother Joey was also an usher in the wedding. I was definitely exhausted by the end of the night, and my heels made my feet hurt. (just can't bring myself to wear flats...)
