Projectile!

Tonight a little before 9 pm i was feeding Asa his before bedtime bottle. He typically eats about 8 - 9 ounces before bed, we lay him down and he drifts off to sleep in his crib within 1 - 10 minutes. Tonight right as he was finishing his last few sucks from the bottle i pulled the bottle out of his mouth, set it down, and was going to wiggle my arm back under his head to pick him up and carry him into his room. Right as my arm was just about under his neck, VOMIT spewed out! Asa has his occasional spit up sessions, which is sometimes up to I'd say 1/8 cup (I know...TMI) but usually is just a very small amount. This....well this was different! This was probably the bottle, IN IT'S ENTIRETY! It soaked his sleeper, and his sleep sack, it soaked my shirt, pants, and underwear, and soaked my sheet. Thankfully we have a waterproof liner under our sheet, but yes, the top of that was soaked too. I brought him into the bathroom to take my clothes off and when i took my shirt off and dropped it on the floor, it made that wet shirt noise. That noise that my clothes used to make when i would run in the rain and soak myself and come inside and take my clothes off in the laundry room wet shirt noise. Adam was at a sales appointment, so i laid Asa down in his crib while i frantically grabbed my computer and googled "What to do when your 6 month old projectile vomits" Almost every response told me to give him some pedialyte, or juice diluted with water. Being that we didn't have pedialyte (it is now on my shopping list), i made him a bottle with 1/3 juice and 2/3 warm water. When i made my way back to his room, i didn't hear anything. I went into our bedroom and looked at him on our video monitor, and he was sound asleep. Don't worry, i went in and checked to make sure he was breathing...and he was :) I will put the juice in the fridge just in case we need it tonight. Poor guy, but i am hoping it was just because he ate too much too quick or something. Say some prayers for our little monkey tonight!

6 Month Stats

Asa had his 6 month appointment today even though he was 6 months on the 4th of February. He is one healthy growing boy. Here are his stats:

Weight: 18.1 lbs. (50 %)
Head: 17 1/2 in. (50%)
Length: 28 in. (95%)

He is going to be one tall guy! He had 5 shots this time because he had to get his flu shot and his swine flu shot. He actually took his shots better this time then the last time. He screamed right when the first shot was given, but the nurse gives them so quickly that before you know it they were done. Adam picked him up right after, and he stopped crying. What a trooper!!

Asa is scooting all over the place. He sure can get where he is going quickly. He can sit up on his own and will get frustrated if there isn't something for him to play with in front of him or if he is bored.

I am feeling OK. I have definitely been feeling queasy, tired and just not myself lately. There are certain times of the day where i just want to crawl into my bed and sleep, and then there are others where i feel like if i change Asa's diaper, i am going to puke. I have been blessed this far and have not thrown up, so i hope that continues as i HATE throwing up! I also have been super dizzy when i get up from a laying down position, so i realize i have to take it slow getting up. I will be 8 weeks on Sunday, and my first appointment is a week from today. I guess this is adefinitely change from my pregnancy with Asa because i felt wonderful, not sick, and just really great. Oh the joys of pregnancy!

Adam and i did get to go on a date on Monday. We just lounged around the house on Valentines day, but wanted to do something on a less busy day. My parents watched Asa and we were able to go see Avatar (Amazing movie) and got sushi at Benihanas. It was VERY nice. Thanks Mom and Dad!

Finally, funny story, as i was "proofing" this post, i looked over at Asa laying on the floor, and he tooted very loudly, looked up at me, and started laughing. It was HILARIOUS!!!

And we took TWO tests...JUST TO BE SURE!

(I think that Asa is trying to put the pregnancy test in his mouth) haha!

Weeks Pregnant: 6

Difference in age between Asa and the bean: 14 months :)

How we feel: Couldn't be more excited. Can't wait for Asa to be a big brother!

What's different between this pregnancy and the first: Crave SPICY not SWEET. Feel a tiny bit nauseous. Already feel like i am poking out a little.

Please keep us in your prayers, as we know this is early to break the news, however we know that God has complete control, and we trust in Him!

Off to Grandmas!

Asa is taking his 1st trip to great grandmas this weekend. I am going to leave tomorrow morning with Asa and head to my grandmas for a grandma/granddaughter/great grandson visit until Sunday. I am very excited. I packed everything tonight, and am going to head there first thing tomorrow morning. Funny story...as i was packing i realized i needed to pack a pacifier and for some reason could only find the one in his crib. After a bit of searching, i though i might want to check behind the crib against the wall. Sure enough! There were 9 pacifiers back there! Now we know when they go missing where to look.

I am looking forward to a relaxing weekend with grandma, and for her to be able to spend some quality time with Asa. I am also going to install Skype on her computer so once we get home we can have video dates so that she can see Asa real time.

Adam has to work on Friday night, and Saturday day so i don't think he will spend too much time missing Asa. Although, this will be the longest time he will be away from Asa since he was born, and i know that made him choke up a bit today!

UPDATE: FINALLY!

Things have been going well at the Heeren home. Asa is growing like a a weed and learning how to do new things every day. He is rolling all over the place and VERY close to crawling. He pushes himself up on his hands and knees and rocks back and forth like he is trying so hard to crawl. He then falls onto his stomach and reaches for whatever is in front of him, only to get back up on his hands and knees again. We have been feeding him some baby food and rice cereal and so far he loves squash and bananas. He has been flipping over in his bouncer, which means we can't use that toy anymore :(

Also, i had posted a bit back about our new camera (Olympus). We had about a week or so of good use with the camera but i kept thinking that the pictures we were taking were so dark. We ended up getting together with Joe, Angel and Silas(SO MUCH FUN! The picture at the very top is of Silas and Asa together) last Sunday and Joe had bought Angel the Canon Rebel T1i for her birthday. i was able to compare the two cameras and found that the Canon took WAY better pictures. All of the pictures in this post were taken from the new Canon T1i camera. So Adam and i went out on Moneay and we swapped cameras for the Canon. Not only does it take better pictures, but it is MUCH more user friendly. I couldn't be happier with our new camera.

Asa LOVES the puppies. Chloe (above) sometimes is brave enough to get close to Asa, but she knows that if she walks too close that Asa will grab a chuck of her hair and PULL!

Asa has even taken a liking to Caeda and Chloe's food. If we put the dishes down for the dogs for dinner, he rolls himself over to them to see what they are eating.

Not much else is new here. Work is going well for both Adam and I. I am so blessed to be able to spend my days here with Asa, and for Adam to be here with me during the day as well. People keep saying that their kids grow up so fast, and although it is true, i feel like since we get to spend almost every waking moment of our lives with Asa that he has grown up slow, and both Adam and i LOVE that. The holidays came and went, and we had such a great first Christmas with our baby boy. Now it is going to be getting through the winter that is going to be long. We can't wait to get outside with him, take him to my parents pool and things like that. We are so thankful everyday for what we have, and know that things are only going to get better!

I will try to post some new pics and maybe even a video soon. I really have no excuse except i am supposed to be working 24 hours a week, and these past two weeks i swear i have been working over 40...ridiculous! :)

Duty calls...back to work i go!

New Truck!

My boss and his wife gave Asa a brand new Caterpiller dump truck for Christmas...Asa already loves it even though he still has to grow into it :)
